Ello :)

I'm seeking some advice regarding copying a game which has been installed on uplay over to a different computer.

I have a laptop and a gaming PC, both of which have Windows 10 installed. I usually download large files/games on my laptop, copy them to my NAS drive and then install them on my gaming PC. The reason I don't just download them on my gaming PC is because my internet is very slow (2.4 mbps) and I'd have to leave my gaming PC on for a super long time and I'm not keen on doing that. To avoid leaving it on I download on my laptop then copy over.

I have used Steam until now so I'm unfamiliar with the process to copy games on Uplay from one PC to another. So I'd like to ask for some assistance please. Steam had a backup option but I never used that as it takes up extra space on my hard drive. I just copied the games folder and corresponding appmanifest.acf file from the common folder in the Steam apps folder to the other PC and verified the files. Is there a similar process which works for Uplay?

If anyone can help me out with this it would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance. :)

It's similar to Steam. You install the Uplay client, log in and access your games, and can install it to another machine. You just can't be logged into Uplay and play games on both machines at the same time.

If you're moving to a new machine, you should be able to move(copy) your uplay games folder to the new machine, and then connect to that game folder with the uplay client loaded on that machine.

Hi ss202sl.

Thanks for your input.

I really hope it works. It's taken nearly 48 hours of continuous downloading and I still have 3GB to go. :)

Hi.

I managed to get it to work.

In the end, all I needed to do was to install uplay on my new PC and start the game download. In my case it was Tom Clancy's Wildlands. After 4 or so megabytes had downloaded I stopped the download and exited uplay. Then I went to my laptop on which I had downloaded and installed the game and copied the entire Tom Clacy's Wildlands game folder from the Ubisoft Game Launcher\Games folder over to the same folder on my new PC. I started uplay and when I went to my games it detected it, installed DirectX and 30 seconds later the game started up and just worked. :)

I hope this will be of help to others asking the same question.

:)

Thank you for the valuable information sir :)

Hi DjEdey.

Why the shock? :)

I'd like to help you but I'm a little confused. Do you have Forza Horizon 3 on Uplay? I didn't think that it was available on uplay. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Are you just trying to copy a standalone game from one Windows PC to another.

If you have not yet solved your problem and still want help then please will you start from the very beginning and explain what it is that you would like to do and the steps you have taken so far.

Thanks. :)

Sorry man my bad. 🙁 i was searching for a way to copy a game on Windows Store not uPlay, and didnt realise u talking about uPlay.

My problem is that i have very slow internet connection here and i purchased Forza Horizon 3 on my PC (low specs) and now i want to copy it to another PC (high specs) and seems impossible to do it. because whenever i try to copy forza files to an external HDD i got permission error. and i searched a lot and non of the solutions worked yet.

dunno if u can help cuz its not same as uPlay or Steam, its stupid Microsoft product so im stuck and should only spend another whole 2 weeks to download it again :/

Thanks Anyway for your help appreciated. :)

Hi again.

Ok. That makes sense now.. Thanks. :)

It's probably going to be better if you create a new thread specifically for your issue. But I did a little searching myself and found some links. You may have already seen the following links but if you haven't they may help. LOL some of the links may be to threads you created. If so sorry.

This one has info regarding why copying Forza 3 to another PC may not work. It's about half way down the page: https://www.reddit.com/r/killerinstinct/comments/4djc72/transfer_copy_of_game_from_one_pc_to_another_pc/

Hope these help to either copy the game successfully or explain why it's not possible.

Good luck. 😉
