Is it possible to create a windows 8 install on a new hard drive without using bios?

I have a gateway fx 6850 desktop and unable to access bios due to password set by manufacturer. Also unable to contact them since im out of warranty.

So would I be able to plug in a fresh new hard drive alongside my current one and install windows 8 on it while logged in and operating windows on my original hard drive?

Help appreciated.

I believe if you remove the CMOS battery it should clear the password. If not

Put in Win8 cd/usb

shutdown and unplug power

take out old HDD and plug in new

plug in power/turn on

It should realize there is no OS on the HDD and would then boot to the cd/usb
