is it possible to find my os key with only my product id?

I recently installed ubuntu server (15.10) to an old pc. The problem is that i was planning to move that key to a new pc, but i made a mistake by taking a picture of my product id instead of my product key. Is there any way to retrieve the product key using the product id as a reference?

If the Key came with the PC, it is an OEM copy and is tied to the now ubuntu motherboard.
Even if you had the key only retail Copies will allow transfer from machine to machine.

a Retail key would be on the CD/dvd case.

Would I be able to retrieve the windows 8 key? I have another laptop that came with windows 10 (so I assume that is considered OEM) and I watched a Microsoft tech remote in and pull up that key through the admin prompt in seconds
