Is it possible to have a 2x4gb 1866 and a 1x8gb 1866 of the exact same brand ram on the same board to have 3 slots?

I have a Z97 gaming 7 and I have 2x4gb of Kingston ram, and I want to get 16gb, but 2x4gb is much more expensive then 1x8gb atm. I was wondering if I could go with the single 1x8gb 1866 kingston ram. I will specifically get the 1x8gb Kingston HyperX Fury 1866 stick with 2x4gb Kingston HyperX Fury 1866 sticks.

Normally, yes. Check the MFG spec on the MoBo. Should not be an issue.
