Is it possible to increase Pixel rate on a GPU?

So i was comparing some cards on hwcompare.com and gpuboss.com when i realised some lower range cards have higher pixel rate than the card which is better than it for example.

even though in this example the r9 280 beats it in everything why is the pixel rate higher on the 270x?
what determines the pixel rate and how can it be increased?

Texel rate is more important than pixel rate.. Core cloak and memory clock are the main two important things for a GPU.. In your case, the R9 280 will be the better anytime.. I think, overclocking increases most of the specs on a GPU..

Hwcompare website is not an ideal site to use for comparison performance of two graphic card. You have to look at gaming benchmarks from proper reviews.
Pixel rate doesn't really mean anything.
A R9 280 will definitely beat a R9 270X overall.

^ +1.. Both of those websites simply compare the specs of GPU.. That can't be dependent.. The newer architecture on new GPU will make a difference from the old ones.. Video card benchmarks should be considered.. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU14/815

Graphic cards are not judged by specs. Real time performance must be the our consideration.
