Is it possible to move a motherboard into a new case without shorting it out?

I move motherboards around all the time, just disconnect all the cables and wires, usually best to remove the video card, but I usually leave the memory, CPU and cooler on the board but don't use those to lift it. Remember to pull out the back panel plate and put it into the new case. Take your time and avoid static charges by touching metal parts in the case.
