Is it possible to overclock CPU slightly without any changes in cooling system?

Hi all
I am using a 3rd gen i3 3240 dual core processor @2.90ghz. Is it possible to overclock my CPU without making any changes to my cooling system? I currently have only the stock single fan cooling system. If it is possible, then to what extent?

If you have a Z77 motherboard, you might be able to do a slight base clock overclock. You would have to stress test and watch temperatures to see if the temps stay reasonable.
