is it possible to overclock

i have a 2500k with BIOSTAR H61MGC motherboard.. Want to overclock around 4.5 ghz.
Is it possible so yes ? which cooler i have to buy

both of those would be a huge upgrade!, but if you wanted to overclock all you would need is a new mobo, there much cheaper then new cpu's

yes because the 2500k is still quite capable as a gpu, but if you want very high end performance then you will need to upgrade mobo gpu and cpu

If going mobo - look at a Z77, something like the ASRock Z77 Extreme 4, next would be the GPU

ok, im aware that the z77 is better for overclocking, but what makes it better then the p67 ?

Personally, I recommend MBs from ASUS for several overclocking, because the list of your equipment presumes not mere modest overclocking but serious modifications to give a significant output. In my personal experience, only ASUS motherboards withstood something more than an open-stand "overclocking" to mark a score. It is only my humble opinion, though.

yes , asus makes some amazing mobo's, I would highly recommend asus, and or msi, both are great, just go with z77 and your good to go
