Is it possible to play with 256mb graphics card in a game that requires 512mb ?

Games these days require a 512mb graphics card and 2 gb ram for minimum
I heard some people say that they played that sort of games but with only a 256mb graphics card
I wonder are they honest ?
And if it's true .. How worse the game's graphics would be ??

Other quick question .. If you have a Laptop with an irreplaceable graphics card .. can you just upgrade the RAMS higher enough that it would assist the poor graphics card and it would be possible to run a game like for example .. " Inversion " ?
P.S : Inversion is supposed to require a 512mb graphics card

Its more based on the chipset than the ammount of memory. Usually you can turn down the settings enough where it doesnt take up much memory, BUT if the GPU doesnt support its type of archecture (like not supporting DX11 or a certain revision of a shader model) then the game wont work at all. And that is dependant upon what the GPU is capable, not hte VRAM.

If you don't meet the requirements the game will run so slowly it wont be worth playing anyway.

Unless you have a K series CPU that you could OC your iGPU with! lol after I sold my 670 for the 780, I immediately OCed my Intel CrapD 3000 to 1.7GHz and played the crap out of skyrim @1080P with high res textures...

Depends on the game you are playing.
For example on the cover of GTA 4 Liberty City you will notice that they claims that the game will require minimum of 256 MB Nvidia 7900/ 256 mb ATI X1900 to run the game. But actually it requires atleast 1 GB of dedicated graphics to play it with decent FPS at minimum Graphics.

If you are playing ordinary games then in most of the cases if you have a lot of ram then it does the work of graphics but upto a limited amount.
You must mention what games are you planning to try

And I was saying that basicly while waiting on my 780, I used the iGPU@1.7GHz to play only 20% of my games. One of them is heavily modded skyrim, but just missing 8K and 4K textures since iGPU can handle it.

Btw, According to my view- it would require 1 GB Vram of 400 series nvidia gpu to play it decently with fair graphics..

What are your CPU specs?

I have a laptop with 1gb of ram
and a 256mb Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family graphics card

I was looking forward to enhance this and enable it to run big games : cuz we're travelling and I would like to take my games with me
But since it's impossible to change this inadequate graphics card , I give up

hey!!...But you can always install a GPU in the laptop. 2gb/1 gb anything..it can be like nvidia 660M/760M or radeon Graphics...anything to upgrade it..And if you can install atleast more 1 gb of ram then your laptop will play the games you wanna play...There is always a room for upgrade..What is the model of your laptop..i can find a compatible gpu for it then.

Check it thoroughly.

It claims to have 2 GIgs of ram..but you said 1 GIGS of ram.
And another thing...truly speaking it may be hard for you to accept now but not all laptops accept custom GPUs..I mean most of them accept but I didn't expect that your laptop would be that 'a little bit' outdated. Celeron dual cores are really outdated and even if a processor like celeron is paired with a present gen GPU then it will definitely bottleneck the card.

I had a Lenovo Y410 series Core 2 duo and its now quite outdated but still even that has a place for installing a GPU..so I thought that your's might have one too..
I am really sorry..It was my mistake that I didn't see through the matter clearly.

He made it from scratch. Its called, iCERealizm. He has added alot of things that have never been heard of into GTA. Like these shaders and stuff that he made from scratch. I did tweak mine, but I hadn't tweaked mine much. My channel features his ENB, but his stuff is nowhere else. Dont upload his files or you will most likely get sued.
