Is it possible to split your ethernet cable coming from your modem?

I'm trying to have two lines coming out from my modem one to my router and another one straight to my computer. My internet is getting throttled through my router and I only care for that my desktop gets a hard connection. I was wondering I can go form my modem to a ethernet switch and from there it can split off to my router and my computer.

Either a PC, or a router. The router serves multiple internal devices.

What leads you to believe your router is throttling anything?

Directly from my modem to a pc I get 66mbps through wifi at most I get 10-20.

The problem is WiFi, not the router.
What do you get if wired directly to the router? I'll bet it is "66mbps".

Most routers have wire connections on the back so you can plug your PC up directly to the router. If yours does not, you should probably look at getting a new router that does. You could also get a switch to serve t he same purpose, b ut there really isn't must reason to when most routers function as a switch already.

It sounds like you may have a Wireless G adapter inside your computer.
