Is it possible to stream with a i3 3220?

Hello!

Can a i3 3220 handle streaming games like LoL/dota or would struggle fps-wise while playing the game?

Is a i5 like a minimum required or can the i3 3220, specifically, handle it?

you could depending on, what software your using, the ram you have, internet speed, your gpu etc.

I don't know.... Streaming is VERY CPU dependent... my friend with a Q6600 couldn't stream sc2/lol/dota that well but after he switched to a i7-920, he can stream everything fine...

I guess it depends on the resolution of the stream the op is doing. if he's trying to do 1080p streaming, there's no chance in hell he can do it. but if he does 640x480, it might be fine.

I though this is where the i3's HT would be effective, but yeah your right if you already have the cpu give it a go, if not then looks like you should get an i5.
But then again it is dependent on your other component's.

My bad for not giving full specs then. I really thought the CPU was the main thing for streaming.

The PC is as follows:

intel® Core i3 3220 (3.3 GHz, Skt 1155, Intel® Smart Cache 3 MB, 32nm, Graphics Base Frequency 850 MHz, DMI: 5 GT/s)
MSI B75MA-E33
8GB (1x 8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 1GB GDDR5 HDMI
1TB SATA3, 6GB/s

Only RAM might be a big deal, the rest won't influence that much I guess?

So... in theory, can this machine stream at 720p?

Internet speed is 20mb down 8mb up.

I never thought of 1080p since it looks a bit far fetched.

A second question that I have is that if in the long run streaming "wrecks" the cpu or not. If used for the resolution it can handle and etc. Or if it's on the cpu standards, should be fine?
