Is it possible to transfer save games from Skyrim to Skyrim SE?

Hello.
I used to play Skyrim a few years back. My character is a 40 level Argonian and I don't wanna lose him.
Is it possible to transfer the progress from the normal edition of Skyrim to the Special Edition?
There isn't even a single mod installed, it 100% vanilla.

Yes but not vice versa. Just drag them from Skyrim's save folder into SE's save folder.

Yes and no.
Depends on whether you added any mods or not to skyrim and whether you have implemented the same mods to SE. Which can also depend on whether your saved game is in an altered area, you could end up in a house that's not modded in the vanilla version, meaning you've got no accessible doors.
Vanilla to vanilla shouldn't be an issue as the items/maps are the same
