is it possible to turn of the dedicated card off

you can just use power saving mode in the power options.

just, right click on the battery icon on the system tray, then choose power saving instead of balanced or high performance.
it will limit the use of the dedicated GPU and force the laptop on using the Intel graphics chip.

but if you play games that require significant gpu power, then the dedicated GPU chip will power back on.
