hey guys,

just wondering is anyone could help me out.

im trying to do some experiments for my studies. and i wanted to know if it was possible to underclock an SSD to match or get close to a typical 7200-7400rpm HDD?

I know it seems dumb to do this as it seems completely redundant, but Ive seen people make tweaks to overclock, but never found any answers as to if you can underclock and thinking this would be a fun little experiment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Only way to do that is limit the link speed which the only way to do that is plug it into a SATA Gen 1 or SATA 1.5Gbps Controller. Most new PC's all have Gen 3 and sometimes Gen 2. A gen 1 would limit it to about 130-150 MBps which is the average speed of a 7200RPM drive.

Not sure Why you want to but that is the only way.
