Is it possible to upgrade 32 bit windows to 64bit?

is it possible to upgrade 32 bit windows to 64bit?
i read somewhere that there are 32 wires connecting the proccesor to the motherboard or something on 32 bit and 64 on 64bit????
if it's not true how do i do it?
