Question Is it possible to upgrade a laptop cpu?

I recently found an old Samsung RC510 laptop with Intel i5 480M CPU and I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade it to intel i7 920XM CPU. I know that It's not worth the money but I just found and old laptop and I want to tinker around with it. So the question is if I got an Intel 920XM would it work on Samsung RC510?

Samsung RC510 has a CPU socket type of PGA988, so it could possibly work. the 920xm is 55w compared to the 480m 35w. I think it would just depend on compatibility of hardware/bios?

No, the Intel 480m fits a BGA/PGA socket. That means it's soldered.

Pin Grid Array sockets are not soldered?

It's BGA1288 /PGA988 Socket G1. Physically they are the same, and use the same dimension board, however the 480m is Arrundale based and the 920xm is Clarksfield based ans d aren't compatible. Then there's bios, I doubt it'll work.
