I have a desktop with USB type A port and a wired earbuds with 3.5mm jack. Now I am thinking of using the USB port to output music to the earbuds. Is it possible? We know we now have USB type C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter (like this one) and USB type C to USB type A adapter (like this one). Let's discuss it on both Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04. Thanks.

There's shorter way - any external USB sound adapter will work equally well with Windows and Linux. Here is what I use.
Does it need to install any driver on Windows or Ubuntu? PS: The Amazon website says it doesn't need driver. I'm not sure if it refers to Windows only. The Admin of Ubuntu disables the jack output but leaves USB available. That's why I am looking for a USB solution. If it needs driver on Ubuntu, I still cannot listen to any sound on ubuntu because I don't have root privilege (except using remote desktop with my laptop which, however, disables other USB devices connection).
