is it really worth it?

I'm interested if it's really worth overclocking your CPU.

I mean: I bought an Core 2 Duo E6750 for 113 GBP. If I wanted to overclock it I need to buy good heatsink and fan (like thermalright Ultra-120 and a good fan) which would cost me around 40GBP. for this combined price (maybe I'd have to add around 10GBP) I could get an Core 2 Quad Q6600.

so my question is: is it possible to overclock E6750 to achive better performance than Q6600? if not what's the point of spending so much money on CPU and quality cooler if for the same price you can get the same speed with stock cooler?

Overclock your e6750 to 3.6 ghz. and it will outperform the Q6600 in most applications. You would need superior cooling and run your system with the stress of the overclock all the time in doing so. Stock cooling will not get you to the needed 3.6 ghz. Your MB and RAM may not comply either.
