I got a R7 5800x3d with a broken pin. Turns out it was the thermtrip_l pin, if the diagram I saw on reddit is correct. It says that this pin is used to shut down the pc of the temps get to 125°C. I've never had a cpu or gpu even get close to 100°C before, so is it fine to use it? I haven't tried putting it in my mobo because I'm a bit scared the socket would short circuit or something.

In most mobo there is a setting you can use to disable thermal shut down as well. I would not only keep a temp monitor running at all times, but also be very vigilant about cleaning dust from this box, but otherwise I would be more comfortable using it this way than buying another 5800x3d.

Yeah, I will be monitoring temps for sure. Also, what do you mean by cleaning dust from this box?
