Is it safe the have 2 gtx 1080s right on top of each other

I recently purchased a second Fe gtx 1080 for my Pc for sli my problem is that I have an matx board where the cards are extremely close to each other and the card on top averages about 70c after about 20-30 minutes of playing something like Mass effect Andromeda where the second stays around 50-55c I was wondering if it's safe to have the cards so close or am I restricting air flow toy 1st card ?


Ps:I have looked almost everywhere and couldn't find one sight or form that could give me an answer.

So long as the top card stays within acceptable ranges (I would aim for under 80C) then you dont need to worry.
First thing would be increased fan speeds, then more case airflow.

If you have them the next slot down you can remove part of backplate of the second card to improve airflow. Nvidia actually recommends this for SLI.
