Is it safe to build a PC on a table on a carpet?

So I recently bought my components for building my PC, but my apartment is covered in carpet, except for the bathrooms. Is it alright to build my PC on a wooden table that's on the carpet, or should I take extra precaution? Also, I have an anti-static wrist strap that I plant to use anyways, but what do I connect it to?

building it on a carpet is excellent...but if u can still take extra precaution, thts even better...connect ur anti-static to ur psu...
