I just bought all my parts and was wondering if it was safe as far as static goes to build on granite. It would be the island in the kitchen.

Yes. You are safe to build on granite counter tops.

Personally I build my computers on carpeted floors. Sometimes I do it while the computer is on, while using a shop VAC to suck out the dust. Lol. Trust me, the static troubles of building computers 30 years ago are gone. You have little to worry about with today.

Just take your time and try not to break anything 😛

Another Question: what would be the best way to ground myself? I've seen that you can just plug in the psu to a power socket and turn the psu off, but my psu doesn't have a switch lol

You can buy a grounding wrist strap and attach it to something metal. The easiest way though it to just constantly touch the metal frame of the case as you work to discharge any build up charge you may be holding.

Just hold your arm, hand, figure, or leg to the side of the computer case while you install items.
