Is it safe to buy PC components off Amazon?

I'm gonna build a new PC and I'm ordering the parts off amazon. I'm not worried from scamming. I'm buying the parts from Amazon themselves but what I'm afraid of is the shipping process. I'm afraid that I'll receive a damage part because of the shipping process. Basically DOA. So is it safe or not?

EDIT: I forgot to mention I'm not from the U.S.

Solution
Amazon is just as safe as any other major retailer. I've bought thousands of $$ in parts from there. And they have a VERY good 30 day return policy.
Safe as any place else. Bought there and Newegg for years. I'm a Prime member at Amazon and a Premier member at Newegg. Free 2 day shipping, free return shipping, and a few other perks with Prime, if you're interested.

i would NEVER buy shock sensitive components online and have them shipped. you never know how they get banged around. just look at the comments on newegg etc about doa hard drives. seems like half are.

How do you think those hard drives appeared on the shelf at your local store?
They got there on the same truck/ship/forklift that delivers it to my front door.

consumer rights in the US is a lot better from where i am lol

with that said, i have bought from amazon too and had it shipped here (via third party)
and an interesting fact, it is sometimes cheaper to buy from amazon and have it shipped, compared to buying locally, the only down side is warranty
