After installing a clean drive into my computer it labeled it as drive "U." I've read that there are issues with changing the drive letter. There are no files on the drive except OEM files from WD. I will format it after I change/not change the drive letter.
Is it safe to change it to D?

OK thanks for your help.
I will probably format it then format it again after I change it. Just to be safe.

One more question regarding the drives, is it OK to change the drives name? Could it cause confusion if things are mapped to it? Like if I wanted to change the OS drive from OS to Local Disk (I've been a Windows User since Windows 98, the will always be local disks to me) would it cause problems or is it OK?

Probably OK. I don't know if I'd change the boot (C) drive name, but it would prob not be a problem.

OK thanks, I won't change it then.
