I unlike a few others find the error reporting incredibly useful for the end user.

Firstly it does give you information on how to fix the error if a fix has already been registered to the MS database.

But most importantly, the error reporting service sends useful information to Microsoft about the possible causes of the errors, which in turn allows them to improve their systems, and then pass on those improvements to us.

So in effect, if everyone started turning off windows error reporting, then it would be significantly harder for Microsoft to learn of the potential background issues that could be affecting users, and therefore we don't get the swift support and improvements that come with that.

So in short, will you notice anything different if you disable it, No.
Does the service serve us a purpose - indirectly, absolutely yes.
