Hi. Is it safe to have both Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX Inkjet and Epson
Color Stylus 880 printer drivers installed in Windows XP Tablet PC
Edition SP1 (all updates) and 98 SE (all updates)? And having both
printers plugged in?

Thank you in advance.

Sure...I've had up to 3 printers installed all at the same time on my
home computers (a laser and two inkjets) using Windows 98/2000/XP. In
theory, you should be able to connect any number of printers, limited
only by the number of available connections.

Oh OK. I was a bit worried about having the same Epson monitor programs
and wasn't sure if it was shared with all Epson drivers. Thanks for the
quick response!!

The operative words here are "in theory".

Unfortunately, I have run into conflicts with some Epson drivers. It
may no longer be an issue, but it was a few years back. At the time I
could only install one or the other Epson driver, otherwise things would
not work properly. Epson ultimately refunded my money on the second
printer.

I have both an ESC900 and an R800 installed with no issues.

Great words, huh? Saves my bacon all the time.

I guess the drivers were just a little funky. I'll bet that was with
Windows 9x?

Unless you REALLY need memory/CPU hogging things like status monitors,
don't install them. Some printers offer corporate drivers which just
support printing.

Yeap, and as I recall, the "X" was a "5" at the time. ;-)

As I recall, the problems I encountered ultimately did relate to the ink
monitoring software clashing.

I don't see why not. I have multiple printers on my box. It's just a matter
of choosing which printer to send the file to AFAIK. Are there other issues
involved?
