Question Is it safe to Overclock an i7-6700k running on a MSI Carbon Z270 motherboard using the stock Intel Cooler?

Never overclocked before and I'm completely unsure if it can handle an Overclock and how far you guys would recommend I should go?

i7-6700k doesn't have bundled stock cooler. Are you using Intel stock cooler from some i3 or i5 cpu ?

Anyway - Intel stock cooler is barely capable at cooling non overclocked i7 and is absolutely not suited for overclocking.
Get a better cpu cooler or forget about OC.

I bought a pre built late last year that came with a i7 6700 with a stock cooler. Could you recommend me a cooler? I was told the be quiet dark rock pro 4 would be good, but it's slightly pricey

i7-6700 does, but i7-6700 - doesn't support overclocking.

Dark Rock Pro 4 is a good option.
Other options (but they are all pricey):

Cryorig H5, H7,​

Noctua NH-D15, NH-U14S.​

I'm aware it couldn't overclock, hence why I purchased the K version.

I was looking for something cheaper than the Dark Rock Pro 4, but thank you.
