[SOLVED] Is it safe to put a gtx 1050 ti

I have a hp 280 g2 mt business pc with i7 6700k 3.4 GHz and 8 GB of ddr4 ram single stick and 180 w psu , I have upgraded it with a MSI nvidia gtx 1050 ti dual fan oc edition and a cooler master elite (ver. 3) 400 w psu. So, I want to know that is it safe for my motherboard ? and also is it normal to make a 30 decibels of noise from the GPU fan ? And can you detect a equivalent gigabyte , MSI , etc, motherboard for the hp 280 g2 mt business pc stock motherboard.

Yes, it's perfectly safe. As long as your motherboard has a pcie x16 slot(the modern GPU slot) to connect it to.(which almost all motherboards have, even some early 2005 motherboards), it's perfectly fine.


I see there that you have only a 180 watt PSU. That sucks especially when your pairing the PC with a GTX 1050ti. I suggest you get a better PSU.(atleast a 400 watt? Or 450?) So u can make sure your GPU and all the other components are getting enough power for maximum performance! Happy gaming or whatever! xD

a good 350 Watt PSU will also work. The 6700k will not draw so much power. Same for 1050ti.
If you wannt to be more future proof i would suggest 450 - 500 Watt. Just in case you want to upgrade to 1060 or higher.
