Is it safe to remove SSD cover?

I'd like to install a SSD in my laptop but it doesn't quite fit. Is it safe to remove the cover to make it thinner? The SSD I have is OCZ Agility 3.

I wouldn't recommend it because there's no support for the side opposite the connectors so a jolt could cause the SSD to come into contact with something metal and causing a short. M2 and mSata SSDs have a screw in the side opposite the connector to stabilize it.

I thought he meant remove the whole cover, top and bottom. That;s not a good idea.
