I'm running a fan header through a "C" shaped chipset heatsink on my motherboard. I have a feeling its nothing to worry about, but I want to make sure I'm not creating a railgun in my computer. Thanks.

Heatsinks get hot. So as long as it does not cause the wires insulation to get brittle or soft it will be ok from that standpoint. However the wires may decrease the convection air flow over the sink. In general it is best to keep wires away from heatsinks.

very thin wire, my MB wont get hot enough to melt. i was more worried about turning my heatsink into an electromagnet by putting a wire in it, but i guess that's not a thing. thanks.
