Hi,

[Asus B550M-A Prime Wi-Fi II & Bluetooth (DDR4)] motherboard is inside a pc case that do not have any case fans now.

How long can I use it safely without overheating or damage anything?

I have a clip fan and a handheld fan, which one would be good to use to blow towards the motherboard? Would it act like case fan?

clip fan example https://www.amazon.com/Gaiatop-Portable-Operated-Powerful-Rechargeable/dp/B0BKQ7MY3L/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2V0JXFJ6GPNFA&keywords=clip+fan&qid=1706526105&sprefix=clip+fan,aps,430&sr=8-5

handheld fan example https://www.amazon.com/SWEETFULL-Portable-Powerful-Handheld-Rechargeable/dp/B0CC1KTGKM/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1R3LK12UWQZYT&keywords=handheld+fan&qid=1706526162&sprefix=handheld+fa,aps,480&sr=8-5

Thanks

modern computer works with out proper cooling will throttle the power... last case will shutdown it self.
BUT if you want your computer last longer. Need to keep it less than 65ºc beyond that the Caps will die really fast.

My computer only have the cpu fan. to keep down the temps around vrm / mem / ssd

What worrying in your post, is that you haven't mentioned the CPU cooler at all!! Nor have the other posters.

Can you run your system like that? Yes. Should you run the system like that? That a big fat NO. If you keep pushing, then you may damage the chip.

Get a proper cooler! That's the best advice here.

What CPU cooler do you have?

Why are there NOT any case fans involved here?
Default CPU cooler that comes with amd athlon 3000g

Case did not come with any case fans.

I did not know the case does not come with case fans, need some time to get case fans.

Would it help to lower the temperature if I use a normal fan or clip fan or handheld fan to blow air into the opened cover pc case now? Is it necessary?

Would it help to lower the temperature if I use 2 hours and let pc sleep windows start>power>sleep to let it cool down 15mins then use again?

"Would it help..." is only known after testing and monitoring.

Insufficient info provided...depends on further details you don't mention. Leaving aside your definitions of "safely", "overheating", and "damage".

I've disconnected case fans purely as an experiment. Idle temps went from 34-ish to 50-ish. This is on a stock 6600K with a Noctua U9S cooler in an ordinary case in a rather warm room....81 F/27 C. The disconnected fans were 2 low rpm Noctuas.

CPUs will throttle at a certain point. Maybe that does not mollify you in the slightest.

Maybe you believe there is a strong correlation between temps and hardware failures.

If you are a worrywart about temps in general, your fear might over-ride any conclusions that might come from testing or from suggestions in this thread.

Not sure what info is insufficient. I did mention in later replies the case did not come with any case fans. I did not know the case does not come with case fans, so I need some time to get case fans. I do not want any components to become damage before I install case fans.

What does CPU will trottle mean? I assume only CPU temp will be lowered during CPU throttle but the motherboard capacitors, hard disk temperature will be unchanged?

Is there a strong correlation between temps and hardware failures? I did not do deep research, only basic understanding that cooler temp in PC case is better.

My understanding from the replies I read also recommended lower temp

"I've disconnected case fans purely as an experiment. Idle temps went from 34-ish to 50-ish" what is the conclusion of your experiment? Is 50 ok to use and can use for how long?

Offhand.....

It appears you are quite anxious about temps....for whatever reason. Justifiable or not.

For that reason ALONE, why would you even consider no case fans?

For that reason ALONE, why would you even consider a modest case fan setup?

Expense??

Idle curiosity?

Some other unknown reason?

Your answers are in post 11 I have replied you earlier and also in my replies to other members. You should read the replies.

I did mention in the replies the case did not come with any case fans. I did not know the case does not come with case fans, so I need some time to get case fans. I do not want any components to become damage before I install case fans.

After I unbox the PC case then I discovered that the PC case did not contain any pc fans.

I would have NO qualms about 50 forever.

If you would have qualms for 5 seconds, I don't know why you would consider it.

Suit yourself.

Is 33 degrees "OK"?

Wouldn't 29 be "better"?

If yes, why? If no, why?

With what level of confidence?

Around and around and around.

To what end?
