I have a 1920x1080 DVI monitor my custom resolution is 2560x1440 using my nvidia card gtx 660 is this safe for my monitor or should I go back to 1080P ?
I can't tell unless I know what brand and model your monitor is. The rule with LCD monitors is that you should run them at their native resolution, otherwise they don't look very good. So if your monitor has a native resolution of 1920x1080, then that's what you should set it to.
does it look better? Do you actually see more on the screen? I can't imagine how a 1080 monitor can display 1440. I thought 1080 was the number of vertical pixels, so how can it show 1440 pixels?

odd enough yes it does look a little better at the cost of fps this monitor is awesome got it for 50 bucks from my uncle
the LG Flatron W2240 which is no longer made for some reason i played on a 40 in tv for a long time when i went to a 22 inch monitor my fps boosted a lot graphics and AA also boosted with my gtx 660 wish i would have known this sooner
My 1440x900 monitor is able to display 1080p, however it can only display a 1440x900 window at a time, you need to scroll to see the other parts of the screen(kind of like looking at it through a lens).
