hey guys.
I bought a new laptop from a local vendor. he said that it has windows 10 legit version pre-installed, he also charged me extra money.
But I have a doubt that maybe it is pirated, or why would he charge me extra money? The OS cost is inclusive in the MRP of the laptop
Sooooo.........

Q. No. 1 - How to detect a pirated version of windows 10?
Q. No. 2 - (ANSWER THIS QUESTION AND I'M SATISFIED)
If I entered my Microsoft Acc, or Google Acc, or any other Acc, will Microsoft detect whether my windows 10 is pirated or not? (THIS Q IS SUPER DUPER IMP.)

Any support is greatly appreciated. (mind the english:pt1cable: )

There's no reason to charge extra money in regards to the OS being pirated or not. If it was not pirated, then the OS should have come with the laptop and if it was pirated, then the vendor still didn't pay for it. Regardless, I should note that Tom's Hardware does not support software piracy.

Look on the bottom of the laptop for a Windows sticker that says the product code. Most laptops have one. It is also sometimes underneath the battery. If you can find it, then check to see if it matches the code in your Windows. Go to Computer, right click, and hit properties. Wait a bit and the window that pops up should show the current product key. It is at the bottom of the window.

If you don't find a sticker, then I don't know of another way to check. If you do find a sticker and the key matches, then you good to go. If you do find a sticker and the keys don't match, then your Windows might be pirated.

A Google account shouldn't have problems. A Microsoft account might; I don't know for sure. I don't use Microsoft accounts for much and I don't use pirated software.

No code sticker....thanks for response.
What should i do now? Can you answer second question?

I have not tried it but if you click on the validate now button it is supposed to tell you if your copy of windows is genuine.

okay ill try
thanks for response

if you don't use Microsoft accounts, how are you able to access windows store, and other sign in required features, which requires an Hotmail account compulsory?

If your copy of Windows is legit then the vendor either provided the installation media and key or provided a method to create the installation media. Either way you get the key. No key = not legit.

And, since the release of Windows 8 you won't find the COA sticker anywhere on the laptop or desktop, for the big name prebuilts the OEM key is embedded in the motherboard's firmware.

Thanks for your answer.
No way im gonna open my laptop to peek on its motherboard.
If my windows is pirated, then there might be an chance of it being detected by microsoft if i tried to update it, or any application affiliated with it. (One note, office 365 or something) Can it happen?
