Im building a PC and I want to see if my motherboard is running and is not dead before I install it into case. Ive seen people start their motherboards with screwdrivers. Is that safe?

Yes, it is safe to short the Power Switch wires on your motherboard. With your power supply ON, look for the power switch pins (http://support.antec.com/support/solutions/articles/1000046605-how-to-test-the-power-button) and short them with the end of a screwdriver. Try not to touch any other electrical components inside your computer. I have done this myself and there is lots of Youtube coverage as well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4FOBL1c3pA)

No that is Not safe with a screwdriver, a little bit of wiggle, then you're are screwed, literally.
But is this working? Yes of course, but safe no.

Safe is a relative term. I've performed the screwdriver trick many times and have never damaged a system. If something goes wrong in the future, I will adjust my opinion.

Hehe, of course it is relative, but for anybody that need to ask the question, the guidance is crucial.
Btw. Is or are? I'm not so good in english grammar.

Best regards from Sweden 😉
