Is it safe to update SSD Firmware when it is the Boot Drive - and when I'm running Windows from it for the update?

I got a Samsung 960 Evo NVME SSD, and the magician software tells me that there is a new firmware update. If it were a side drive I'd have already done it, but I don't want to risk having to do a new Windows Install if it goes wrong - as it is tthe boot drive for the system. Is there any risk?

The rule of thumb is if it does work as the manufacturer advertised, and if you are reasonably satisfied with the outcome, don't bother to update the firmware of SSD. there is some chance your ssd to get bricked if things got wrong. so why take the risk when you had no reason? you can probably RMA it, but it still wastes your time, and effort.
