My monitor is 7 years old and the AC adapter is dead.

I have a spare adapter that is the power supply of a modem.

Dead AC Adapter Specs:
INPUT: 200-240VAC-1.0A 50-60Hz
OUTPUT: 12v=2.6A MAX

Modem Ac Adapter Specs:

INPUT: 100-270v-0.45a 50-60hz
OUTPUT: 12v=1.25A

Is it safe to use the modem Ac Adapter for my monitor? My fear is that the Ac Adapter can fry my monitor.

-----------Update 23/7/2018------------------------

On May 9th, I have purchased an adapter,

New AC Adapter Specs:
AC Input - 100-240V, 50-60HZ,
AC Output 12V = 3.0A.

Unfortunately, my monitor worked for 1.5 smoothly, and then I started to have "power button flickering," and the display doesn't turn on for a few moments. And, the took out the DC connector, and it was hot!

Solution
You don't get it, if the device requires or specificates 3A if you use less AMPS with same voltage its less watts, soo in longer period as the components heat up they lose efficiency and the demand is more and that results in over current draw and adapter might be hot and melt itself down.

I have tested it and the monitor turned on - This is how I have come to the conclusion that original Ac Adapter is dead :D

I used it to check it the monitor dead or not and Modem Ac Adapter worked.

Modem Ac Adapter Specs:
INPUT: 100-270v-0.45a 50-60hz
OUTPUT: 12v=1.25A

All right, I get your point, I'll buy another Ac adapter. Should I buy a generic one or branded? I have never purchased Ac Adapter before.
