Is it safe to use alcohol on golden cpu pins?

Hi y'all,

Long story short, I managed to get some thermal paste on the golden panels of the back of my i7 8700. I really want to clean it because makes weird noises and it is cooling very randomly. and the temperatures are going from low to high in a short time too. so my question is. is it safe to rub the (dried) thermal paste of the back and front of my cpu?

I'm well aware of how an Intel CPU looks.

There are no pins on the CPU, but there are certainly pins in the motherboard socket. If there's paste in there then you might have a hard time getting it out without damaging the pins. That's my point.

You need to look at the pins in the socket(on the motherboard). The pins will be more difficult to clean as they are delicate and can easy be bent or broken which can render the motherboard useless.

Best if you start a new thread. Include all hardware specs, temp readings and what you've done to troubleshoot. This thread is more or less done so best chance you have now is to start new as this seems like a different issue.
