I wanted to connect my CPU to TV for gaming purpose but it had no HDMI slot (only VGA ).can I use VGA ~ HDMI cable and will it work on a old TV?(it's like 7-8 yrs old). And will I have any video resolution problem with it?
As long as your tv supports HDMI, yes, you can use one of those cables. You might want to think of getting a cheap video card though, as they would have native HDMI and the picture will probably be better than converted.

Not 100% sure that video card will work in your computer, but if you give me the model/name/ any info you can find, I can look one up for you.
my TV is Sony Bravia klv-s32a10 (no HDMI slot). Graphics card is Asus GTX 960 2GB OC strixs. I basically wanted to connect HDMI to video card and use adapter to my TV.
There is no need for that.Your graphics card has a dvi port. In that port you can use a dvi=>vga adapter so that you can connect your PC to your TV with a simple vga=>vga cable.
