Is it sensible to link a 24 port Gigabit switch to a 4 port PoE injector to avoid fan noise?

I am looking to upscale my home network. I need a 24 port Gigabit switch, with 3 of the ports PoE. What I don't want is a loud fan in my switch.

I am looking at a NetGear JGS524 ProSafe 24 Gigabit switch with a StarTech 4 port Gigabit MidSpan PoE+ injector linked to it, as I don't think this uses a fan.

Is this a sensible combination? As I will only want PoE occasionally I assume the power draw and hence heat output of the injector will be minimal otherwise? I am also assuming I need to push 4 cables from the NetGear to the PoE injector so I get a Gigabit on each?

Sounds like a reasonable solution. Note that while the StarTech has 4 gigabit ports it is limited to a maximum data transfer rate of 2 Gbps (full-duplex) per its spec sheet, although that is unlikely to be an issue for periodic home use.
