Is it that much important to have a cooler?

I'm not gonna do overclocking in my PC, but I simply play heavy hardware consuming games for 4-5 hours continuously.. Should I really need a CPU cooler?

Hi. If you are not OCing, then as a rule the stock cooler should be fine.

You need a cooler. However, most CPUs (with the exception of LGA2011 ones) come with a reasonable stock cooler, that will do the job unless you're OCing.

The stock is fine, but I would still recommend you buying a cooler.

Why?
1) You can sell the stock cooler later
2) Your CPU will be much cooler while and when you don't play video games.
3) It'll extend your CPU's life by a bit.
4) It's cheap.

Never had a CPU itself fail, and I've got lots, including laptop ones that rarely get under 60℃ and are years old. Motherboards fail, CPUs generally don't, and a stock cooler does a better job cooling the VRMs/chipset than most aftermarket ones.

LOL. Maybe if someone's stock cooler breaks, or stops working and they don't want to invest in a $25 cooler, they can buy a stock for like $5. I've seen it on sites.
