Hey all, currently I am having some fps issue with both gaming and even watching youtube video's @ 720p. normally I can stream 1080p and even do gaming at the same time without a problem. But as of earlier today after 2hrs of gaming and then popping a youtube video, I am suddenly have drops of fps like crazy. I opened up my HW monitor and the temp of all 4 cores were between 90-97°C while my gpu was only @ the norm 50-60°C. As the question is of the above, been using a Coolermaster liquid cooler for the past 7 months, do you guys think it's time for me to change to a new cooler or maybe just try changing the thermal paste? thx in advance.

To be honest you should not have to do either. A closed loop cooler should not see any evaporation after seven months of use. Most are warrantied for three years. Thermal interface material also should last way longer than seven months without drying out. That is if you applied it properly to start with. I am also assuming you mounted the waterblock flush with the heat spreader. My guess is the pump died on your closed loop cooler and all you are getting is a small amount of passive cooling from the waterblock itself.

so my guess is the solution would be to bring the cooler back to the manufacturer for warranty? but in the meantime while the wait, should just slap on the stock fan that came with my i-5? or should I get something better as a backup just incase this happens again in the future? (touch wood)

The old cooler should be fine. I am assuming it is running at stock and is a non-k cpu.
