Question Is it time to ditch the Asus P6T Deluxe v1?

Howdy All. No huge problems with my setup, but feeling the bug to upgrade my motherboard after 12 years. I don't game much- mostly use the PC for audio recording (DAW), audio (but with lots of high intensity audio plugins and what not) and some video editing.
So CPU is important, along with Hard Drive speed, graphics less so but I still prefer at least decent graphics performance but figure the RX570 I have might still be fine.

The Asus P6T Deluxe has just friggin' lasted forever! So Asus is fine with me...

This mobo dates back to 2008. Over the years the most significant component upgrades:

  • I've switched out to SSD's
  • Swapped the original i7-920 for a Xeon x5660
  • Graphics Card upgraded from an EVGA GTX 9800+ to a Radeon RX 570 Series
  • RAM is now 16GB at just under 1600

I'm totally fine buying used stuff, and AMD/Intel agnostic. If I were to swap out the mobo for something used or new today under $200 would I get much out of it? I'm thinking that going to M.2 alone might make my PC better for low-latency DAW use?

Yes, I'll need a new (or used) processor, too to go with the new mobo.

I kind of like the idea of going with the best of the best stuff from a few years ago vs. mid-range new, but not locked into it. Just figuring the bang for the buck will be better.

Open to ideas... thank you!

(Please say an upgrade is necessary, I need a project...)

Intel is getting from bad to worse. The management is swapped out and they dont have 7nm.
I say forget about them and switch AMD!

Update- my need for a project got the better of me. I was looking at B450 Tomahawks but they're not super easy to find (at reasonable prices anyway). So I wound up pulling the trigger on this:

https://www.newegg.com/msi-b550m-pro-vdh-wifi/p/N82E16813144331

Which from initial reports should be similar, albeit Micro ATX form factor (fine by me).

I have a Fractal Design Define Mini C case on the way, and will be going with your CPU suggestions as well.

I went with less on the RAM :
XPG GAMMIX D30 Gaming Memory: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz CL16

Otherwise still building... thanks!
