Is it time to retire my 1090T? Or will a new GPU get me by?

Right now my stats are;

Amd 1090t black edition clocked at 3.7ghz
8 gig ram clocked at 1600
SSD
Radeon HD 6870

I understand my video card is probably my biggest bottleneck at this point. I was hoping to get some opinions on whether most people would do a complete rebuild at this point in time or just upgrade the video card? At this point i have a few games like the new Deus Ex that I have to play on other pc's I built more recently.

Do you folks think a 1090t can still handle the games coming out today? From what I can tell my cpu is still keeping up and it baffles me because it is about 6 years old now... Would this continue to be the case if I slapped a new video card in or would it start to show its age after I upgrade?

I'd do a full rebuild. your parts are pretty much all 6yo, even if you replace parts of your system most of the rest of it will fail due to age anyway, and you don't want to endanger the new parts when that happens.

hang onto that old clunker a few more months. Intel's extreme edition chips plus the kaby lake refresh are coming out in the 1st Q (Jan-March), right along side AMD's Zen; Nvidia's new lineup is also coming out in the 1st Q, right along side AMD's new GPUs.

I'd wait for all of them to be released and they chose your replacement from them. Start saving your money though!
