Is it true that in Single Player (v1.10, LOD) if you type in "players 8" you
can increase the difficulty of the monsters, thereby earning more experience
and getting better items?

I can't decide if this is having any effect on my single player games or not.
Thanks!

it is /players 8 (note the leading "/")

it should because monsters are much tougher and in greater number thus
more rewarding (more exp and better items and more gold and ... more fun)

if you are playing in 1.10 you have to type /players 8 and a message will
confirm the change

for V1.10 you have to put in a slash first.... /players 8
but yes, the rest is correct.

To be precise, you'll get *more* items, not necessarily better items.
The quaity of drops does not depend on the number of players (actual or
simulated) in a game.

I thought it was /players8 with slash and without the space but I do type it
blindly and without thinking whenever I start a single player game.
Monsters are more difficult, drop better stuff and give lots more
experience.

As for Normal difficulty, it's the only way I like playing the game because
Normal is way too easy to be fun without the /players8.

Marcel

just curious...I know it does not work on the realms, but does it work
in tcp/ip games?

As he said, yes it does, and the official wording is "/players X" where X is
the number, and minus quotes.
Its fun playing with 3 players but using /players 5 as it makes it slightly
more challenging for more experienced players starting new characters. Bear
in mind it has limits. Such as one player typing /players 8 wont make it
harder or more rewarding than typing in /players 4 for example. The game
still knows how many ppl are playing, and will only allow you so far in
extra XP/items etc.I've found that /players 3 is best for a one player.
Generally just add 2 "players" in to get the best boost.

Hope that helps.

Dosent setting players to 8 give more experience points than set to 3.
reguardless of how many people are actually in the game?
Also, if I host a tcp/ip game, and set players to 3, if someoen joins
the game, does it go up to 4?
