Is it worth almost twice the price?

Hey peeps.

I am going to build my first pc. I originally decided on going low end with low wattage but my friends suggested otherwise.

Therefore, I went medium end-ish and it was almost 2ce the price.

After making both builds, I can't decide whether it is worth the upgrade since all I do is watch videos and surf the web.

It is not that I do not play games, but nothing interested me in pc to require higher end like the past year. I actually prefer console gaming since I am not really a 1 player gamer and I am old school and prefer play and chat face to face.

A good counter argument by them is that a pc last years and therefore it might be better to go higher since a game might come out that I may like and play.

But if that is so, it might take a while and it might be better to buy a pc then.

So due to being a newbie at pc making, I would greatly appreciate feedback on which to make.

Some very poor part choices in there. For one, the Pentium G4560 almost similar in performance at half the price of i3-7100... http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-G4560-vs-Intel-Core-i3-7100/3892vs3891 For watching videos and surfing the web, you dont need a Ryzen build. Ryzen shines in compute work and multi-threaded load and your requirement does not involve any of that. Whatever games you want to play, can be handled by the G4560 easily, beside Intel being better in gaming due to its faster single core clocks and IPC. Also, the G4560 is Intels' Kabylake 200 series chipset compliant, and maybe 2-3 years down the line if you wanna upgrade, you can just get a i7-7700 and you are good for another 3-4 years.
Considering all that, something like this should be ideal.
