Is it worth buying 8700k or should wait for 9th gen?

Hi there,
Currently I'm using AMD FX-8350 with GTX1080 and the bottleneck on that cpu is just horrible, so i'm planning to get an Intel CPU to get the full potential of 1080.
But i'm not sure about the 8700k as the price would not be much different for the next gen i7, and if they are going to launch it soon then the 8th gen would a waste of money.
I also read somewhere that the next gen wont support z370 motherboards but maybe they would support B360. I have picked ASrock's z370 taichi motherboard but its too costly in my region and getting a b360 would be cheaper i guess and if anyone can please explain why should i go for z370 over b360 that would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

The next gen of Intel CPUs (from my knowledge the codename is Ice Lake) will need a totally different socket because it will use different nm technology. So the chipset would be a new one as well. And it doesn't make sense to buy a B360 motherboard, which can't be used for overclocking, with a CPU specifically designed for OC.

There are some Z370 variants that are only $10-$15 more than B360 boards....; if you can afford the basic Z370 (any over $160 is a goofy choice anyway, IMO), I'd choose it if getting an 8700K. If you KNOW you'll be fine with the 8400, go B360.
