Hi guys, I am in the market for a new gaming laptop the few I have been looking at is the aorus x7 pro with 970 sli and the alienware 15 with the gtx980. I am just wanting to know is it worth buying now or waiting for the new broadwell CPUs or new nvidia gpus to be released? Is it a little late to purchase these laptops with this hardware now? I am looking for gaming laptops with slightly portable factor with at least a gtx 980 with good browsing battery life if needed that's why the alienware appealed to me. Any help and opinions would be awesome, cheers.

Generally the Alienware laptops are overpriced, so I recommend maybe the MSI Dominator series.

Depends on what you are after. A lot of factors to consider in a laptop. 15 inch gaming laptops can be somewhat limited on GPU choice.

If I were to drop that amount I would want something slightly more modular. Look into Clevo/Sager chassis machines from resellers like Xoticpc.com

Can even get desktop processors in a laptop form factor: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np9772s-clevo-p770zm-eta-mar-31st-p-7857.html

I love my Alienware 18. But Dell has changed their direction and discontinued the 18 and have 3 new models 13,15 and 17. They have gone from very easily upgraded to everything soldered onto the motherboard. They are also thinner and are promoting a graphics amplifier can use multiple desktop graphics cards. They are moving the heat to out side laptop case. AW was the last 18" laptop but they discontinued and MSI came out with one that is the first mechanical keyboard on a laptop but starts at over 3000. The biggest difference between Alienware pre-2015 is they encouraged you to upgrade your components an MSI put tabs on the case of some models and if the seal was broke you had warranty issues.

My Alienware has SLI graphics compatible with Nvidia 860,870 and 880 SLI. It has capability of 4 SSD/HD combinations RAID or no raid up to 32gb of RAM. The new Alienwares only go to 16 gb.

Well some people me use it for gaming and other things. No my last laptop i added memory because it was cheap. I went from 8 GB to 12 GB and it was a noticeable difference so I decided to go to 16 GB and i saw no difference.
