Hi guys im gonna buy either one of these cards here next month i have a tight budget and after long dig in google for comparisons it seems theres only slight differences between two such as 5fps-10fps (so far for stock cards comparisons) both card have almost similar speed when it comes to gaming and benchmarks while the price is only $80 away i could save that money to buy some bundle gaming keyboard/mouse so whats it gonna be? THANKS!

heres my specs by the way

CPU: Core i7 4770k
MOBO: Asus Z87 Maximus VI Formula
RAM: Gskill Trident X 16GB Dual DDR3 2400
PSU: Corsair AX1200i

NOTE: im not actually playing over 1080p and probably not gonna use AA just to insure to get less heat and stuff like that

I would go for R9 290 Tri-X, I don't believe that there is only 5~10FPS difference between R9 280X and R9 290, you can still OC 290 card to 290X's speed :)

I'm seeing 8 FPS difference on Farcry 3 ultra settings - thats actually a big difference considering how much power it takes to run that game.
In the future when games require more hourse power - 8 FPS could make the difference between playable and not playable. It's up to you.
Also, 18 FPS difference on medium graphics using 2160p resolution. That is a big difference.

I have R9 290 tri x and really happy with it, it far better than 280x have core clock speed of 1000mhz and mem. clock speed of 1300mhz but it can be oc'd to 1200 core and 1500 mem
easily with 200 vddc offset and 100 power limit on tri x utility and tri x keeps it cool on max out with custom fan setting.
BUT according to your specs you should get a 780ti or 290x.
additional asus direct cu.. R9 290 with same price range can unlocke into 290x if your lucky.

I'd get the Tri-X. Your config is pretty high end, may as well keep up with that trend. Also, I think that (after a lot of research) the Tri-X is the absolute best "bang for the buck" that you can get in a videocard at ANY price range. The only downside is that Sapphire only has a 2-yr warranty.
