is it worth getting 8.1 for games ?

Hey guys , I was thinking of formatting my computer since it's been about a year and a half since my last format and my hard drive is really full with stuff that I don't need

so is it worth getting windows 8.1 ? for games ? or should I just stick with 8 since there's no increase in performance?

When DirectX 11.2 is used in a game then it is exclusive to 8.1

I don't know about DirectX, but in general 8.1 doesn't give any performance improvement. It's generally agreed that 8.1 is better feature wise, but not much apart from that.

are you daft? 8.1 is just a service pack. there is no "getting" it. you do a clean install and you update to the latest version. this is just common sense

If already running Win8 then Win 8.1 is an update - there is no need for a clean install, That is common sense, and Win 8.1 has additional features and fixes built in, for current Win8 users the update is free

Agree, my comment was mainly aimed at the ridiculous response by Unksol, where he calls the OP daft and says you have to do a clean install - don't know where people come up with these things
