Hello all, I am running a intel i7 2600k on a asus P8P67 with 12GB ram and a R9 390 8GB GPU. I was wondering if its worth going to lets say a Z77 board or the asus equivalent in"77" ? I mostly play tom Clancy siege, arma 3, battlefield 1. maybe new call of duty. thanks!

So the MSI optic g24c allows a higher resolution in full HD so that is a plus, but technically speaking everything is pretty much the same, one has a bit newer technology then the other but I would expect better performance from one or another besides the resolutions

Truthfully I don't think you will see much of a performance in game. Upgrading may allow for a bit more ram or morel cards but nothing I would really expect to improve game performance

I see. but what about the PCI-E 3.0 thats in the Z77? because my current board has only 2.0. my GPU is also 3.0 ready.

Theoretically yes PCI 3.0 Is twice as fast as 2.0, 3.0 Allowing for 16x bandwidth then the 2.0 8x. So yes benchmarks have proven with modern cards only a 1.5 frame difference between most modern cards in different slots.

So if you really care that much about the loss of a couple of frames then yes getting 3.0 will be the way to go, especially because all the newer cards are going to be taking advantage of the 3.0 capability

i know this should probably go into the monitor sub fourm, but ive been reading up on the big diffrence from 60hz to 144hz if your a avid gamer. a smoother faster gaming experience. will add the MSI to my wishlist. Thanks for you input.
